Whiskey Sour Cocktail Recipe
- Total Time: 5 minutes
- Yield: 1 Serving 1x
Description
Whether sipped in a dimly lit speakeasy, enjoyed on a sunlit patio, or concocted at home for a quiet evening, the Whiskey Sour cocktail epitomises the art of balancing flavours.
With its harmonious blend of whiskey’s warmth, fresh citrus tartness, and sugar’s subtle sweetness, the Whiskey Sour is perhaps the ultimate whisky cocktail, along with the Old Fashioned.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 oz (60 ml) whiskey (bourbon is commonly used)
- 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz (15 ml) simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- Splash of Angostura bitters
- Ice cubes
- Orange slice and cherry, for garnish (optional)
- Egg white (optional for a frothy texture)
Instructions
- Mix: Pour the whiskey, sugar syrup, and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker.
- Froth: (Optional) If you’re making a frothy version, add the egg white.
- Shake: Fill your shaker with 3-4 ice cubes and shake until well-chilled.
- Pour: Strain into a rocks glass pre-filled with ice.
- Garnish: Add a garnish of an orange slice and cherry.
Notes
When making a Whiskey Sour, always use fresh lemon juice. While it might be tempting to reach for a bottle of pre-squeezed lemon juice for convenience, trust me, it’s not the same.
