Tequila Sour

  • Author: Ingrid Visockiene
  • Total Time: 2 minutes
  • Yield: 1 Serving 1x

Description

The Tequila Sour is a vibrant cocktail that combines the boldness of tequila with the tangy complexity of lime juice, balanced by sweet syrup.

With its smooth texture and a frothy top from an optional egg white, the Tequila Sour offers a delightful sip, showcasing tequila’s versatility beyond traditional margaritas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz or 60 ml Blanco tequila
  • 1 oz or 30 ml Fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Simple syrup (or Agave syrup)
  • 2 Egg whites (optional, for froth)
  • Ice cubes
  • Angostura bitters (optional)
  • Lime wheel twist (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep: If using, add the egg white to your shaker and shake well (Dry Shake) for about 20 seconds to aerate and create foam.
  2. Mix: Add tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice to the shaker.
  3. Shake: Shake well until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
  4. Pour: Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or over ice in a rocks glass.
  5. Garnish: A lime wheel.

Notes

Including egg white in the Tequila Sour is not just for show; it adds a silky texture and a smooth, frothy layer on top of the drink.

Taking it one step further, you can add two or three dashes of Angostura bitters for aroma and a slight bitter contrast.
