A staple in tiki culture and bars worldwide, the Mai Tai is the ultimate rum cocktail, capturing the essence of tropical beaches and faraway destinations.

A blend of aged rum, vibrant lime, and the unique almond sweetness of orgeat syrup, this Mai Tai recipe will whisk you off to a Polynesian paradise!

  • 2 oz of 60 ml Aged rum
  • 3/4 oz or 45 ml Lime juice
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Orgeat syrup
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Orange liqueur
  • Mint sprig (for garnish)
  • Lime wheel (for garnish)

  1. Mix: Combine rum, lime juice, orgeat syrup, and orange liqueur in a shaker with ice.
  2. Combine: Shake well and strain into an ice-filled glass.
  3. Garnish:  Add a mint sprig and lime wheel.

The Mai Tai’s name means “the best” in Tahitian, a fitting tribute to this iconic cocktail.

Its creation is credited to either Trader Vic (Victor Jules Bergeron) or Don the Beachcomber in the 1940s, each claiming to have invented the drink.
