La Piñata

  • Author: Ingrid Visockiene
  • Total Time: 2 minutes
  • Yield: 1 Serving 1x

Description

Inspired by the traditional Mexican piñata, the La Piñata cocktail blends tropical fruits with tequila, creating a lively concoction ideal for outdoor parties.

I find that the addition of a spicy chilli-salt rim and a splash of soda water makes La Piñata more exotic and fun than the classic Margarita it’s based on.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz of 60 ml Blanco Tequila
  • 1 oz or 30 ml Mango juice
  • 1 oz or 30 ml Pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Lime juice
  • Dash of grenadine
  • Soda water (to top up)
  • Chilli-salt mix (for rimming the glass)
  • Ice cubes
  • Pineapple slice and cherry (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep: Rim a highball glass with Tajín or a chilli-salt mix by rubbing a lime wedge around the edge and dipping it into the spice.
  2. Ice: Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  3. Shake: Combine tequila, mango juice, pineapple juice, and lime juice with ice in a shaker and shake well until thoroughly chilled.
  4. Pour: Strain the mixture into the prepared glass.
  5. Finish: Top with a soda water splash and a grenadine dash.
  6. Garnish: A pineapple slice and a cherry.

Notes

La Piñata cocktail is perfect for adding a tropical flair to any festivity, especially themed parties or summer events, mirroring the excitement and colourfulness of breaking that piñata.
