Ingredients
- 1 oz or 30 ml Light rum
- 1 oz or 30 ml Dark rum
- 1/2 oz or 15 ml Apricot brandy
- 1 oz or 30 ml Lime juice
- 1 oz or 30 ml Pineapple juice
- 1/2 oz or 15 ml Grenadine
- Dash of Angostura bitters
- Crushed ice
- Mint sprig (for garnish)
- Pineapple slice (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep: In a blender, combine all the ingredients (aside from the garnish) with a cup of crushed ice.
- Combine: Blend until smooth.
- Finish: Pour into a tall glass or a tiki mug.
- Garnish: A sprig of mint and a slice of pineapple.
Notes
The Zombie cocktail was created by Don the Beachcomber, a legendary figure in the tiki bar scene, and was designed to be so strong that customers were limited to two drinks.
Its name is said to have been inspired by a friend of Don’s who, after consuming the cocktail, felt like a “zombie.” The drink quickly became a symbol of tiki culture, known for its elaborate and theatrical cocktails that transport drinkers to a tropical paradise.
