Sgroppino
- Total Time: 2 minutes
- Yield: 1 Serving 1x
Description
Andrew and I first discovered the Sgroppino cocktail at one of our favourite Italian haunts in Knightsbridge: Harry’s Dolce Vita.
The Sgroppino is an Italian classic, a refreshing blend of zesty lemon sorbet lifted by sparkling Prosecco and the smooth sweetness of Limoncello.
Originating from Venice, this delightful drink is traditionally served as a palate cleanser or a light dessert; we have it as an aperitif!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 scoops lemon sorbet
- 6 oz or 120 ml of Prosecco
- 2 oz or 60 ml of Limoncello
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
- Lemon zest (for garnish)
Instructions
- Scoop: Add the lemon sorbet to a chilled measuring bowl.
- Mix: Pour over the Limoncello and slowly combine.
- Pour: Once combined, pour the mixture into a chilled flute glass.
- Top up: Slowly add the Prosecco and gently stir.
- Garnish: Use a sprig of mint and a sprinkle of lemon zest.
Notes
If lemon sorbet is unavailable, we have used orange and mango sorbet and find they can be delightful alternatives.
The Sgroppino should be served immediately after preparation to maintain its frothy and fizzy character.
Instead of Limoncello, you can substitute it with 1 oz or 30 ml of good vodka.
