Mexican Mule
- Total Time: 2 minutes
- Yield: 1 Serving 1x
Description
One of my favourites, the Mexican Mule, is a vibrant twist on the classic Moscow Mule, substituting vodka with tequila for its clean agave flavour.
This Mexican Mule combines the clean agave tones of tequila with a zesty kick of lime juice and spicy fizz of ginger beer.
Served in a traditional copper mug, the Mexican Mule is not only a feast for the palate but also for the eyes, adding a touch of glam to your tequila combination.
Ingredients
- 2 oz or 60 ml blanco Tequila
- 1/2 oz or 15 ml Fresh lime juice
- 4 oz or 120 ml Ginger beer
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedge (for garnish)
- Mint sprig (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep: Fill a copper mug (or a highball glass) with ice cubes.
- Combine: Pour tequila and lime juice over the ice.
- Top up: Top with ginger beer to fill the mug & stir
- Garnish: A lime wedge plus a sprig of mint.
Notes
The Mexican Mule is part of the “Mule” family of cocktails, known for their use of ginger beer. Its popularity has surged alongside the craft cocktail movement, celebrating the versatility of tequila as a base spirit.
The copper mug traditionally used to serve this drink not only keeps it colder longer but also enhances its flavour profile, making every sip a delightful experience.
