Description

The Matador cocktail combines the boldness of tequila with the tropical sweetness and tartness of pineapple juice, topped with a splash of lime for extra zing.

Perfect for those who appreciate a fruitier tequila creation, this Matador recipe may be less known than its Margatira cousin but equally deserves the spotlight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz or 60 ml Blanco Tequila
  • 4 oz or 120 ml Pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Lime juice
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Simple Syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wheel (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Mix: Add the tequila, pineapple and lime juice into a shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake: Shake well until the mixture is chilled.
  3. Serve: Strain into an ice-filled Collins glass.
  4. Garnish: Add a lime wheel.

Notes

The Matador cocktail was invented to showcase the versatility of tequila beyond the classic margarita. Its use of pineapple juice offers a tropical twist.

For me, the optional addition of simple syrup is a no-no as I find it too sweet and overpowers the lime, yet Ingrid prefers it with. Choices, choices!
