Lemon Drop Martini

Description

Originating in the 1970s in San Francisco, the Lemon Drop Martini is a zesty and sweet cocktail that captures the essence of fresh lemons in a smooth and elegant drink.

The Lemon Drop Martini combines vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup, served with a mouth-watering sugared rim to enhance its playful yet sophisticated profile.

In my opinion, the Lemon Drop Martini is perfect for those who enjoy a martini cocktail that balances citrusy tartness with just the right amount of sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz or 60 ml Vodka
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Triple sec (or Cointreau)
  • 1 oz or 30 ml Fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Simple syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Superfine sugar (for rimming the glass)
  • Lemon twist (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep: Rim a chilled martini glass with the sugar by rimming a lemon wedge around the edge and dipping it into sugar.
  2. Combine: In a shaker, combine vodka, triple sec, lemon juice, and syrup with ice, then shake until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
  3. Pour: Strain into the prepared martini glass.
  4. Garnish: A lemon twist.

Notes

The name Lemon Drop Martini was inspired by the classic lemon drop candy, evoking fond childhood memories while providing a sophisticated, adult cocktail.

I find that this one is all about the quality of the lemon juice. If you can, try to get Italian Amalfi lemons. Reduce the fresh lemon juice to 0.5 oz or 15 ml if it is too sharp.
