Description

Named after the Hurricane lamp-shaped glasses in which it was first served, the Hurricane cocktail is a vibrant and fruity mix that embodies the spirit of New Orleans Mardi Gras.

This Hurricane cocktail recipe combines light and dark rums with passion fruit juice, orange juice, lime juice, syrup, and a cheeky splash of grenadine for colour.

Its tropical flavours and eye-catching appearance make the Hurricane cocktail a festive choice for celebrations, capturing the essence of its Louisiana roots.

Notes

First created in the 1940s at Pat O’Brien’s bar in New Orleans, the story goes that to get rid of excess rum, the bar concocted this drink and served it in Hurricane lamp-shaped glasses.

Today, the Hurricane remains a symbol of New Orleans’ vibrant cocktail culture, enjoyed by locals and tourists alike during Mardi Gras and throughout the year.
