Desert Rose

  • Author: Ingrid Visockiene

Description

Vibrant and zesty, the Desert Rose blends the tart flavours of grapefruit juice with the agave kick of tequila and the subtle sweetness of rose petal liqueur.

This is my personal take on the Desert Rose recipe. A splash of agave syrup for sweetness and a hint of grapefruit for acidity reminds me of the starkness and beauty of the desert landscape.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz or 60 ml blanco tequila or mezcal
  • 2 oz or 60 ml Grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Rose petal liqueur
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Agave syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Salt for rimming the glass (optional)
  • Lime (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep: If desired, rim a coup glass with salt by rubbing a lime wedge around the edge and dipping it into the salt.
  2. Combine: In a shaker filled with ice, combine tequila (or mezcal), grapefruit juice, rose petal liqueur, and agave syrup.
  3. Shake: Shake well until chilled.
  4. Pour: Strain the mixture into the prepared coup glass.
  5. Garnish: A lime wheel.

Notes

The Desert Rose cocktail showcases tequila’s versatility beyond the traditional lime and salt. If you prefer a smokier agave take on this cocktail, use mezcal instead.
