A bold and flavourful twist on the classic Bloody Mary, the Bloody Maria substitutes vodka for tequila to add a distinctive, fresh, earthy agave flavour.

The Bloody Maria is a savoury blend of tequila, tomato juice, spices, and hot sauce. Its spicy kick makes it your go-to for brunch or as a hangover cure.

With its rich, layered taste and the unmistakable essence of tequila, the Bloody Maria is a pleasurable alternative for those who enjoy exploring the flavours of agave.

  • 2 oz or 60 ml Tequila (Blanco or Reposado)
  • 4 oz or 120 ml Tomato juice
  • 1/2 oz or 15 ml Fresh lime juice
  • 2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 dashes Hot sauce (like Tabasco)
  • 1 pinch of Celery salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper
  • Ice cubes
  • Celery stalk, lime wedge, and jalapeño slice (for garnish)

  1. Prep: Rim a highball glass with celery salt by rubbing a lime wedge around the edge, dipping it in celery salt, and then fill with ice cubes.
  2. Shake: In a shaker, combine tequila, tomato juice, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, celery salt, and black pepper, then shake.
  3. Pour: Strain into the prepared glass over ice.
  4. Garnish: A celery stalk, lime wedge, and jalapeño slice.

The Bloody Maria is just one of many variations of the classic Bloody Mary, the original pick-me-up tipple designed to revive one from the heavy night before.

While the original version was made with vodka, tequila adds a distinctive crisp yet earthy agave twist that enhances the savoury profile of the Bloody Maria.
